Who Are The Best Rookies At The Launch Of Madden NFL 20?

AL beats NL in All-Star Game with help from past and current IndiansWith the game releasing in just over a month, EA Sports has finally begun unveiling this year’s launch ratings for Madden NFL 20. As it’s become tradition, we start with the rookie class and their less than excited reactions to their respective ratings. Here’s who ended up in the top six:

Quinnen Williams, DT, New York Jets — 80 OVR: The big man from Alabama is the big winner this year, scoring the highest rating of all rookies at launch. He’s an impressive all-around pass rusher, with high numbers in strength ratings and an 86 Acceleration that’s among the highest of rookie defensive tackles.

Ed Oliver Jr., DT, Buffalo Bills — 79 OVR: Not far behind is another top-10 draft pick in Oliver, who matches Williams in strength but is just a pinch faster off the snap thanks to a higher Acceleration rating. An 84 Pursuit rating also helps, along with an impressive 86 Jumping that’s pretty high for a lineman.

Nick Bosa, RE, San Francisco 49ers — 78 OVR: Some would say the Niners struck gold with drafting Bosa with the second-overall pick. He’s sure to be imposing on the field and in Madden, especially with a 91 Acceleration that could make him a nightmare off the edge if not put in check.

Josh Allen, LE, Jacksonville Jaguars — 77 OVR: Those talking about Bosa and the 49ers would also argue that the Jaguars got a bonafide steal taking Josh Allen with the seventh-overall pick. While not as quick of the jump as Bosa, his Speed rating is a bit higher along with a set that could make him fit in a variety of schemes.

Marquise Brown, WR, Baltimore Ravens — 77 OVR: Not only is “Hollywood” going to be catching passes from Lamar Jackson in what could be an exciting offense, but he’s Madden‘s top-rated rookie wideout at that. EA has tapped him as the second-fastest receiver at launch, with 97 Speed and 95 Acceleration. An 87 Juke Move can also make him pretty difficult to stop, but his 81 Catching could see an improvement as the year goes on.

T.J. Hockenson, TE, Detroit Lions — 77 OVR: Rounding out the list is the top rookie tight end and the eighth overall pick out of Iowa. An 89 Jump rating could make him a threat on shorter passing plays, despite his catch rating being comparable to Brown’s at an 83.

Some other notable ratings include the first-overall pick, Kyler Murray, who’s the highest-rated rookie quarterback of the bunch at 73 overall. Oakland’s Josh Jacobs was the highest-rated running back at 74 overall, while Carolina’s Brian Burns was the top linebacker at 75 overall.
