How to Evaluation the Dallas Cowboys in Madden 20

I know that you all like EA's Madden series of video games, but do you think the ranking of Dallas Cowboys is fair?

This year Patrick Mahomes became the cover player for Madden20, which is exciting news for Dallas Cowboys players, but let's see if Madden is fair to some key contributors, and just how fair they were giving out ratings.

Five players from Dallas Cowboys scored a "90" overall rating or higher in Madden 20 and tied for the most with the Philadelphia Eagles. There is nothing strange about players who have scored more than 90 from Madden evaluators, but five people are a bit surprising.

  • Tyron Smith - LT - 94 OVR - LT3
  • Byron Jones - CB - 91 OVR - CB5
  • Travis Frederick - OC - 94 OVR - OC1
  • Zack Martin - RG - 96 OVR - RG1
  • Ezekiel Elliott - RB - 94 OVR - RB2

You should all know who the first four are, which is easy to guess. But what surprised me was that I saw Byron Jones! Madden has always been very demanding for him, essentially a first-year cornerback, receive such a high grade after the past season at CB is pretty awesome. All five players listed above were ranked in the top five at their respected position.

New Faces

The Cowboys brought in a bunch of new faces this year via free agency to help get this team over the top. Players like Randall Cobb and Robert Quinn were the highest score players in the past few years, some of these players saw their rating dip in the 2020 version of the game, Probably because of age and drop.

  • Kerry Hyder - LE - 70 OVR
  • Randall Cobb - WR - 80 OVR
  • Robert Quinn - RE - 78 OVR
  • George Iloka - SS - 73 OVR
  • Devin Smith - WR - 67 OVR

Randall Cobb is the only player to score 80 points, but the average score of these free agents is 73.6 points, so Randall Cobb was named the second-best WR for Dallas Cowboys, behind Second only to Tyrone Crawford. Iloka and Jeff Heath score exactly the same. Regardless of the age of the player and the output of the previous season or two years, none of these scores has been debated.

Rookie Rating

One of the most difficult things about Madden20 is to rate the rookie. When the NFL Draft evaluators announce the results of the players who want to enter the NFL, Draft grades are given with the idea in mind that in year-one said players could struggle, but by year three he’ll be this caliber of player.

  • Michael Jackson Sr. - CB - 66 OVR
  • Mike Weber - RB - 64 OVR
  • Tony Pollard - RB - 68 OVR
  • Joe Jackson - RE - 64 OVR
  • Connor McGovern - RG - 64 OVR
  • Daniel Wise - DT - 62 OVR
  • Jalen Jelks - LE - 61 OVR
  • Donovan Wilson - SS - 60 OVR
  • Brandon Knight - RT - 53 OVR
  •  Trysten Hill - DT - 72 OVR

For teams that don’t have first-round draft picks, these ratings are great. The Cowboys' first pick, Trysten Hill, received a 72 overall rating at the defensive tackle position, which ranked sixth highest out of rookie defensive tackles in Madden 20.

The Cowboys fans should be satisfied with Madden 20's evaluation of them this year. The Cowboys are one of the most talented teams in the NFL.
